Trip to Rajasthan

So it all started when we decided to visit India on Holi for 3 weeks and while planning our trip I thought why not I spend a week on the road. But I was in dilemma: which place this time ? Somewhere not very far yet not very close, place I have not explored and a visit for which 6 days should be just fine. After spending almost a year abroad I desperately wanted to feel and live the culture of my home, my country. Colourful people, vibrant culture, variety in food, grand havelis, desert and lakes, I am not surprised if you guessed it correct: "Rajasthan".

Where in Rajasthan ?

I have been reading auto car magazine for ages and I remember an article from few years back on Audi's promotional drive from Churu, hottest place in India, to Drass, coldest place in india. Since then Churu was in the back of my mind for a road trip. A friend from Churu helped me decide the route from delhi and I was all set to pack my bags. Though not my kind of thing, I booked my hotels almost 45 days in advance. I am never good at planning in an advance and prefer to take things as it comes during a trip. At the end I was back to my old way when I decided to cancel all my bookings after talking to the friend, apparently there are too many options available and advance booking is not required.

Route:

Day 1: Delhi - Churu

Day 2: Churu- Ramgarh - Mahansar - Churu

Day 3: Churu - Bikaner

8Day 4: Bikaner - Deshnok - Ajmer

Day 5: Ajmer - Jaipur

Day 6: Jaipur - Delhi

Pulsar 220
I and my sister
Though I finalised the route but was not sure whether to pick one of my bikes, Avenger or Karizma, or to rent one from Delhi. I did some research on bike rentals and among several rentals in Delhi I found "Stonehead Bikes" the best and with positive reviews. I ended up renting Pulsar 220 since there were no other options available on such a short notice; a day before my trip began. This time I was not solo and my younger sister joined me. She is 20 and though a novice biker, she was more excited than myself. Afterall, this was her first road trip on bike. We packed our bags and were all set.

Khajurao....Beyond general belief !!

On my each visit to India I always make sure to spend 50 percent of the time backpacking with my sisters. My brother has not been very happy about it so this time in November I decided to take him along for a short trip to Banaras. The oldest city on earth and considered to be the door to Nirvana, this city has always been a fascination for it's ghats, bizarre alleys and mysterious lives of sadhus. All I had to do was to book my tickets and plan a quick itinerary but unfortunately I couldn't find any tickets neither on train nor on any flights. It was disappointing but you don't have to worry about finding the next best destination if you are in India. I wanted to visit somewhere not too far from Delhi, a 2-3 days trip. It was a tough task going through a list of so many eligible places and my final two selection didn't help much: Jhansi or Khajuraho. Both are fairly near to Delhi and both equally famous for their history and the architecture. It was better to decide b...

A guide for how to spend 4 days in Normandy, France !

Whole of France is beautiful. In the South there are cities like Nice, Cannes,Marseille and North has a region such as Normandy. Its varied coastline includes white-chalk cliffs and WW2 beaches, including Omaha beach, site of famous D-day landing. Just off the coast, the rocky island of Mont Saint Micheal is topped by soaring Gothic abbey.  We covered all these sites and also the city of Rouen,Etretat. We spent about 4 days in the region which was good enough to cover all beautiful sites. Here, I am sharing my 4-days itinerary for Normandy. Day 1: Rouen First city in our itinerary was Rouen, historical capital of Normandy France. Rouen is famous for its beautiful Norte Dame Cathedral and astronomical clock from 13th century. To admire the panoramic view of the city, you can also climb to clock tower with entry ticket. It's center is quite compact and can easily be covered by walk. Cobble street lanes and colorful timbered houses make it a perfect spot for photos.  Church of...

Castles..roads..towns..rivers and vineyards-Mosel Valley!!

Autumn, a yearly ritual when nature paint its own canvas transforming the lush green landscape into different shades of red, orange and yellow.  It’s also a reminder that the new year is not far and all the untouched resolutions from the last new year can now again be refreshed. Though I like winters but here in Netherlands, apparently in whole Europe, it’s way beyond a pleasant foggy morning and lukewarm noon sun. Day light is reduced to few hours and sun light is now a rare event. Nevertheless, autumn is one among very few reasons why I still wait for the summer to end and can live with winters.  When it comes to road trips, fall season has its own unique charm as it adds so many surprises at every turns and bends and no more roads are left ordinary.  I read about Moselle valley, one of the best places to visit at this time of the year located in the German Rhineland. The whole valley and many small little towns and villages are transformed into a fairy tale world...
