My first love in the Netherlands ....

From centuries old windmills, tulip fields, fishing villages, unique country side, enchanting canals and amazing nightlife, Netherlands is famous for countless things. I came to this country in 2016 and immediately fell in love. I live in Amsterdam and the the first shocker was the amount of bikes everywhere. I love bikes and had one back home. As much as it was a shock, it was fascinating and inspiring. My searc h for a a bike that suits me started on the very first day of my arrival. Though rough and tough, I found the dutch city bikes boring, ugly and heavy and not something for my taste. My husband tried all tricks to convince me but I was unshakable and wanted something differet. Finally I stumbled upon this pink sleek beauty and It was love at first sight. Next day it become our family member and I was so happy exploring the beautiful city like local on my lovely cute bike. Be it going for groceries, yoga classes on the other side of city or job interviews, my fixie was my co...

Zaanse Schans - Authentic Dutch countryside !!

Apart from bulb fields, canals, clogs, cheese, red light district, space cake, Ntherlands is also famous for its windmills. With over a thousand windmills throughout the Netherlands, it's very likely that you'll bump into one.Centuries ago, windmills were used to pumping water or grinding grain. Its been approx. 3 years that i am living in Netherlands and i must admit that i have been to this place n number of time. Whenever, we have any friends from India, Zaanse Schaans is on top in their list. Zaanse Schaan is a typical Dutch village with green-timbered houses and historical windmills. Half day is good enough to explore the place and you can combine Volendam or Marken if you wish you explore some more. Zaanse Schaans can be explored by walk, cycle or by boat. There are lots of things to do here. First of all , you can visit the tourist center, where you can get the information and ticket to cheese museum if you wish to visit. As you walk further up, you will...

How driving made me a better person !!

Driving in India is one hell of a task.  No rules, no safety, thousands of vehicles of all sorts on the road, animals of all sorts on the road, people honking for no apparent reason, motorcyclists accommodating themselves even in the tiniest of space left between 2 cars or buses,  no priority based driving, no lane discipline, no place for cyclists, pedestrians, even footpaths are not left empty instead motorcyclists manages to ride even on footpaths. Government is trying now and then all sorts of ideas to implement to make it better but no we don’t like that, we will find some work around to make sure that nothing should change and we should always be as messed up as we are. List of problems is endless and if you could survive driving in India , you can survive anywhere else on planet earth. I exchanged my Indian driving license to Dutch driving license and I was excited to drive here(off course, I considered taking a few classes). Though it didn’t come as easy I imagined...

Zagreb - A city not to be missed !!

Having explored quite a few countries in  Western Europe, we wanted to plan a trip to the east and see the other side of europe. Croatia was top in our list with an endless list of iconic picture perfect places such as Pltivic, Krka, Zagreb, Split, Dubrovnik and many more. This country has everything from beautiful nature, mountains, coastline, forests and waterfalls to midnblowing beuty of small towns and cities. We decided to do a roadtrip across the Croatia to genuinely appreciate and feel the country. Our starting point was Zagreb, the capital. It was a city beyond over imagination since it has so much more to do and see than we ever imagined. Walk around the city You can literally spend several hours just strolling through the streets and discovering something unique at every corner. .The town is divided into two parts upper and lower town. You can take a fenicular to reach upper or if you are fit enough you can just walk. Most of thetourist attractions are in upper town of...

One day itinerary for Mostar !!

Ticking off places/things from your bucket list is always so satisfying and rewarding however It doesn't come so easy, it needs money, time and planning. I feel everyone should have a bucket list doesn't matter how big or small. Life is so short to regret and we as a human being are always in that rat race to prove something to the world or to ourselves. Bucket list is something which makes us to take sometime off, explore the unexplored, discover a new hobby and rejuvenate ourselves. A city full of character, a unique bridge from ottoman's period, beautiful cobble stoned streets, green colored water river. Well, i couldn't resist myself adding Mostar to my bucket list when i first arrived in Europe. So almost, after 3 years, here we were on our way to Mostar. It was one day detour from Dubrovnik. Bosnia and Hergezovina is a beautiful country and apart from Mostar there is lot many things to see, lots of natural wonders but since we had only 1 day in our hand. we e...

Plitvic Lakes - Nature at its best !!

If nature was a living human being, he/she would be so proud for being the most fierce and magnificent and yet at the same time rugged and ravishing. Nature defines versatility, frightening an harsh as a roaring sea but also breathtaking with snow capped mountains and turquoise waters. Croatia is one place where you see nature in its most gorgeous form, whether it's the coast and the beaches or mountains covered in forests and majestic waterfalls. Our road trip to Croatia began with a visit to picture perfect Plitvic lakes and waterfalls. having hiked in the tropical Indian western ghats, Waterfalls are nothing new for me. It's always thrilling to see a river change it's nature all of a sudden when it meets an edge and the water gushes through layers of rocks and valleys. Plitvic is different for so many reasons, it's not just lake or forest or waterfall but a divine combination of all these in a complex and heavenly setup spread across endless greenery. P...

Granada - A Moorish jewel !!

Cities full of character, home of bull fighting and flamenco, Moorish architecture, surrounded by sea and mountain ranges, that's Andalucia, full of colours. It has plenty to do whether you are an adventure freak or someone who loves to chill out on the beach or walk through the cobblestone cultural town center.  I was particularily drawn to this part of the world due to Caminito del rey, which, at one time was the most dangerous hike in the world. After a recent renovation the thrill and adventure remains the same though the hike is much more safer and accessible for all. There are several gorgeous and famous cities in this region such as Malaga, Cordoba, Granada, Marbella.  We few into Malaga and decided to rent a car to explore the region. We did our planning in advance and had booked fiat 500 since it's a cute little car and we thought it will add extra charm to our photos. Unfortunately, we were forced into a not so desired upgrade and ended up with Fiat Panda. Th...
