Dubrovnik - Pearl of Adriatic

42.6507° N, 18.0944° E.  This almost looked like a complicated password to me when I was checking it.  Truth be told, it really was.  But when I managed to get past it, it opened a gateway to a fabulous, almost  surreal experience of ancient history, royalty and an incredible canvas of  natural beauty.  It was on a road trip that I did covering 4 Eastern European countries that I reached Croatia and then of course, had to visit Dubrovnik. It seemed to be a cliché, like doing  the touristy thing, but let me tell you it is a place that will fill your senses like no other.  George Bernard Shaw described it as “The Pearl of the Adriatic” and today Dubrovnik is one of the most sought after tourist destination in the Mediterranean Sea.  The playground of business czars, movie stars, sports celebrities and of course those looking for that “perfect picture moment” to create a buzz on their social media pages.  An interesting side information is - Ragusa – which is the historic name for Dubrov

A guide for how to spend 4 days in Normandy, France !

Whole of France is beautiful. In the South there are cities like Nice, Cannes,Marseille and North has a region such as Normandy. Its varied coastline includes white-chalk cliffs and WW2 beaches, including Omaha beach, site of famous D-day landing. Just off the coast, the rocky island of Mont Saint Micheal is topped by soaring Gothic abbey.  We covered all these sites and also the city of Rouen,Etretat. We spent about 4 days in the region which was good enough to cover all beautiful sites. Here, I am sharing my 4-days itinerary for Normandy. Day 1: Rouen First city in our itinerary was Rouen, historical capital of Normandy France. Rouen is famous for its beautiful Norte Dame Cathedral and astronomical clock from 13th century. To admire the panoramic view of the city, you can also climb to clock tower with entry ticket. It's center is quite compact and can easily be covered by walk. Cobble street lanes and colorful timbered houses make it a perfect spot for photos.  Church of Sain

My first love in the Netherlands ....

From centuries old windmills, tulip fields, fishing villages, unique country side, enchanting canals and amazing nightlife, Netherlands is famous for countless things. I came to this country in 2016 and immediately fell in love. I live in Amsterdam and the the first shocker was the amount of bikes everywhere. I love bikes and had one back home. As much as it was a shock, it was fascinating and inspiring. My searc h for a a bike that suits me started on the very first day of my arrival. Though rough and tough, I found the dutch city bikes boring, ugly and heavy and not something for my taste. My husband tried all tricks to convince me but I was unshakable and wanted something differet. Finally I stumbled upon this pink sleek beauty and It was love at first sight. Next day it become our family member and I was so happy exploring the beautiful city like local on my lovely cute bike. Be it going for groceries, yoga classes on the other side of city or job interviews, my fixie was my co

Zaanse Schans - Authentic Dutch countryside !!

Apart from bulb fields, canals, clogs, cheese, red light district, space cake, Ntherlands is also famous for its windmills. With over a thousand windmills throughout the Netherlands, it's very likely that you'll bump into one.Centuries ago, windmills were used to pumping water or grinding grain. Its been approx. 3 years that i am living in Netherlands and i must admit that i have been to this place n number of time. Whenever, we have any friends from India, Zaanse Schaans is on top in their list. Zaanse Schaan is a typical Dutch village with green-timbered houses and historical windmills. Half day is good enough to explore the place and you can combine Volendam or Marken if you wish you explore some more. Zaanse Schaans can be explored by walk, cycle or by boat. There are lots of things to do here. First of all , you can visit the tourist center, where you can get the information and ticket to cheese museum if you wish to visit. As you walk further up, you will

How driving made me a better person !!

Driving in India is one hell of a task.  No rules, no safety, thousands of vehicles of all sorts on the road, animals of all sorts on the road, people honking for no apparent reason, motorcyclists accommodating themselves even in the tiniest of space left between 2 cars or buses,  no priority based driving, no lane discipline, no place for cyclists, pedestrians, even footpaths are not left empty instead motorcyclists manages to ride even on footpaths. Government is trying now and then all sorts of ideas to implement to make it better but no we don’t like that, we will find some work around to make sure that nothing should change and we should always be as messed up as we are. List of problems is endless and if you could survive driving in India , you can survive anywhere else on planet earth. I exchanged my Indian driving license to Dutch driving license and I was excited to drive here(off course, I considered taking a few classes). Though it didn’t come as easy I imagined,. Well i

Zagreb - A city not to be missed !!

Having explored quite a few countries in  Western Europe, we wanted to plan a trip to the east and see the other side of europe. Croatia was top in our list with an endless list of iconic picture perfect places such as Pltivic, Krka, Zagreb, Split, Dubrovnik and many more. This country has everything from beautiful nature, mountains, coastline, forests and waterfalls to midnblowing beuty of small towns and cities. We decided to do a roadtrip across the Croatia to genuinely appreciate and feel the country. Our starting point was Zagreb, the capital. It was a city beyond over imagination since it has so much more to do and see than we ever imagined. Walk around the city You can literally spend several hours just strolling through the streets and discovering something unique at every corner. .The town is divided into two parts upper and lower town. You can take a fenicular to reach upper or if you are fit enough you can just walk. Most of thetourist attractions are in upper town of Zag
